As well as the overall Photographer of the Year title, the IPPA Awards Programme for 2016 included 9 category awards recognising the very best in Irish professional photography across a range of genres.

Tom Doherty, Chairman of the IPPA Awards 2016 said “The 2016 IPPA Awards Programme sponsored by Bank of Ireland, saw entries of the highest calibre from professional photographers across Ireland, judged anonymously over three heats, with the very best entries being recognised by the judges and awarded accordingly.  Following the heats, the top photographers in each category were shortlisted for the finals and the results announced on Sunday night represent the cream of Irish photography and the quality of work that IPPA members offer clients all around the country”.
